About Discord fonts
Where do these work?
Everywhere Discord shows text: messages, nicknames, your About Me, custom status, server and channel names. They are ordinary Unicode characters, not images, so they look the same on desktop and mobile.
Anything to watch out for?
Screen readers may read styled letters oddly or skip them, and Discord search wonโ€™t match them against normal letters. Keep important names readable, and use styles for decoration.

About Fancy Fonts for Discord

Discord doesn't let you change the font of your name or messages, but it does show Unicode, and Unicode includes many alternative letter shapes: bold and italic math letters, script, double-struck, small caps, circled and fullwidth letters. Fancy Fonts converts your text into those characters so you can paste styled text anywhere Discord shows text.
The result is ordinary text, not an image, so it copies like any other text and looks the same on desktop and mobile.

How to use it

1
Type your text
Type a name, a bio line or a channel name. Every style updates at once so you can compare them side by side.
2
Pick a style
Scroll through the 17 styles, from ๐›๐จ๐ฅ๐ and ๐“ผ๐“ฌ๐“ป๐“ฒ๐“น๐“ฝ to ๊œฑแดแด€สŸสŸ แด„แด€แด˜๊œฑ and โ“’โ“˜โ“กโ“’โ“›โ“”โ““ letters.
3
Copy it into Discord
Tap a style to copy it, then paste it into your display name, About Me, custom status, a message, or a channel name if you manage the server.

Where styled text works best

Display names and About Me sections are the most popular places, because they are seen in every server you join. Channel names are another: a styled header like ๐—ฅ๐—จ๐—Ÿ๐—˜๐—ฆ or แด€ษดษดแดแดœษดแด„แด‡แดแด‡ษดแด›๊œฑ helps important channels stand out. Some styles don't have every character; letters that aren't available stay as normal letters so your text still reads correctly.

Readability and accessibility

Screen readers often read styled letters as their mathematical names, or skip them altogether, and Discord search won't match them against normal letters. For things people need to find or hear, such as your username, rules or role names, keep a plain version too. Use styles for decoration, not for the only copy of important information.

Fancy fonts versus Discord formatting

Discord's own Markdown can already make messages bold, italic or underlined, and it is easier for screen readers. Fancy fonts are useful where Markdown doesn't work, such as names, statuses and channel names. In messages, use whichever looks right, or try the Message Formatter to build Markdown without memorising the symbols.

Frequently asked questions

Will people on phones see my fancy name?

Yes. These are standard Unicode characters that Discord shows on Android, iOS, desktop and the web. A few rare symbols may look slightly different from one device to another.

Why can't I use some styles in my username?

Discord usernames only allow lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Display names, server nicknames and your About Me accept styled text.

Why do some letters stay normal?

Unicode doesn't have every letter in every style. For example, small caps has no small capital X, so the normal letter is used.

Is styled text against Discord's rules?

No, but some servers ask for readable nicknames so moderators can mention members. Check a server's rules if you're unsure.
